Episode 26: Expanding Got Tea
After celebrating the first anniversary of the Got Tea store, the team decided that now was the time to expand the breadth of offerings and try to capture a larger audience. But they didn’t want to just start something new from scratch – there are so many things that Got Tea is doing which have been successful with their existing customers, so the challenge was to figure out how these things can be built upon to get new people in.
Expanding the menu
The first thing the team decided to do was to continue offering more hot drinks, especially as the temperatures in Delhi continue to plummet. So, two new flavours, Peachy Oolong, a creamy mix of peach and oolong teas, and an aromatic Earl Grey have been launched. Both drinks can be ordered hot or cold, with or without bubbles.
With holiday season around us, Got Tea decided to bring back their successful Strawberry Matcha drink from last Christmas (previously known as Berry Merry Matcha), where customers can add a shot of matcha concentrate to their Strawberry Blossom drink for a matcha twist to a crowd favourite. And the team has also launched holiday special combo offers, where customers can buy a drink and a croffle for a special price, to try Got Tea’s specialities together!
Expanding locations
The team hasn’t just been focusing on expanding the menu, however. They know that in order to reach a larger customer base, they have to also increase their geographical reach. Going along with their “Got on the Street” idea, the team decided to hold two bubble tea drops every month.
But, what’s a bubble tea drop? Well, the team will choose one location in Delhi where they will be at for an hour, handing out free bubble teas to anyone who wants to try some! Through these short events, they hope to introduce more people to bubble tea and Got Tea around Delhi. The first ever bubble tea drop was on 17 December, in partnership with Innisfree Khan Market, and was a great success! Keep an eye out on Got Tea’s Instagram to find out details about upcoming bubble tea drops – the team will announce their locations only a few hours before showing up, so stay tuned!
In addition to the bubble tea drops, the team also held two pop-ups in the last two weekends at 32nd Avenue in Gurgaon (on 11-12 December and 18-19 December) where they met with many first time bubble tea drinkers and introduced them to their drinks. The events were a huge success and solidified the huge scope that the brand has if they expand to a new location. So, Got Tea is excited to announce that they are launching a new store in Gurgaon in 2022, and can’t wait to see you there!
This journal is an ongoing series tracing the story of Got Tea, the latest bubble tea store launched in India, located in South Delhi, now available on Zomato and Swiggy. Want to know what happens next? Stay tuned – new episodes come out every week!
